Thank you for virtually coming together to discuss Candidly COVID-19 & Endo. Moderator Diana Falzone was joined by Dr. Joseph Vinetz, Dr. Laura Payne, Dr. Tomer Singer, and Dr. Tamer Seckin to discuss the impact of COVID-19 on endometriosis patients. The panelists focused on a variety of topics including vulnerability to infection, mental health, and endometriosis. In addition, they covered the question of whether or not it’s too early to resume a fertility cycle. Dr. Tomer Singer, director of Shady Grove Fertility Center New York, advises making a plan. “Uncertainty adds to anxiety and depression,” Dr. Singer said. “I think having a plan during this time of uncertainty will help.”

To help take care of your mental health, Dr. Laura Payne, Director of the Clinical and Translational Pain Research Laboratory at McLean Hospital/Harvard University, suggested limiting your news intake, as well as aiming to behave in a non-anxious way. “If you find yourself feeling very anxious, wiping things down, etc., try to limit that behavior. The behavior will inform how you feel.” Dr. Joseph Vinetz, professor of infectious disease at Yale Medicine added that there are different and scalable ways that we will be able to overcome this. “This will pass,” he said. “It is temporary.”
