Amanda Chu, MD is a Board Certified Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgeon who joined the Seckin Endometriosis Center in 2021 to focus on complex endometriosis care.
Dr. Chu’s Background
Dr. Chu completed her medical school education at SUNY Stony Brook University (Stony Brook, NY) and her OB/GYN residency at Lenox Hill Hospital (New York, NY). There she first met and trained under Dr. Tamer Seckin. She became interested in multi-organ endometriosis and its implications on pain, fertility, and quality of life.
She later completed an AAGL Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS) at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Hospital (Hershey, PA), where she further developed skills in the treatment of endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain and robotic surgery.
Dr. Chu’s Interests
Dr. Chu continues to be involved in a clinical trial at Penn State Health involving the use of sublingual Cannabidiol (CBD) and its effect on endometriosis-related pain. She respects not only the traditional medical and surgical management of endometriosis, but also the impact of complementary routes and the importance of treating the whole body & mind.
She believes in the importance of both patient and provider education regarding endometriosis. She has published a book chapter with Dr. Seckin on “Hysteroscopic Findings in the Endometriosis Patient” (Hysteroscopy. Springer, Cham 2018). Moreover, she has started a surgical fellowship for advanced endometriosis care (through the Society for Laparoscopic & Robotic Surgery) to further education & specialized training for this disease.
Most recently, she was named one of New York Super Doctor’s 2023 Rising Stars.
