Endometriosis Awareness Takes Center Stage at the 13th Annual Blossom Ball

The 13th Annual Blossom Ball, hosted by the Endometriosis Foundation of America, lit up New York City on May 15, 2025, at the iconic Pierre Hotel. Co-organized by world-renowned endometriosis excision surgeon Dr. Seckin, the event brought together celebrities, medical experts, and patient advocates for a night of science, storytelling, and solidarity.

Why the Blossom Ball Matters

For over a decade, the Blossom Ball has been the pioneering event for endometriosis advocacy and research fundraising. Each year, it raises awareness for a disease that impacts more than 200 million people worldwide. This year’s theme, Uniting for a Cure, reflected a collective urgency—and the room was electric with shared purpose.

Amy Schumer: Humor, Honesty, and Healing

In a heartfelt surprise appearance, Amy Schumer opened up about her personal journey with endometriosis. For years, she endured misdiagnosed pain, until excision surgery changed her life. Speaking candidly, she told the crowd:

“No one has changed my life more,” she said of Dr. Seckin, “and I will say that to my husband and son’s face.”

Her words reminded the audience of the life-altering impact of expert care—and the very real human cost of delayed diagnosis.

Fareed Zakaria: A Father’s Gratitude, A Public Mission

CNN anchor Fareed Zakaria returned to the Blossom Ball stage 17 years after his first appearance. This time, he spoke about his daughter’s journey with endometriosis—and the hope Dr. Seckin’s surgery provided.

“We had a savior. There was a path forward.”

His presence reinforced how much progress has been made—and how far we still need to go.
